What a surprise! The next Call of Duty is coming out later this year, which isn’t surprising since it’s what we’re used to, but we now know the exact release date. The sequel to Modern Warfare 2, based on the 2009 original title of the same name, will be released on October 28th.
As part of its Twitter announcement, Activision released a video showing boats, ships, and containers covered in paintings, artwork, and symbols from the game. We’re not sure what all of this means, but a large boat with a Modern Warfare 2 banner is under a bridge and pulled into a dock alongside other banners. From above, the banners reveal Ghost’s return to the Call of Duty universe.

Ghost, the guy with the skull mask who was shot and burned before players’ eyes in the old game, isn’t well known. Call of Duty: Warzone included Ghost as a playable character a few years ago, but he’ll make more appearances here. It may follow a similar story to the 2009 original, but it will mostly be something new and different.
However, this video still seems confusing. Maybe 60 seconds of drone footage can tell us more about the game than we think. Is there a big shipyard mission in the game? Captain Price would likely “blow it” if that was the case. Is this perhaps a reference to players’ favorite Shipment map that appears in every Infinity Ward game? Is there a specific reason for filming the video in a ship port?
Whatever the case may be, the video was effective. For the first time since Infinity Ward’s last Call of Duty, everyone is excited about this game. There hasn’t been an installment in the series that has matched the quality of Modern Warfare 2019
