There are many and varied opinions about Samsung Bixby, the personal assistant of the Korean company. It is fine to use Google’s personal assistant rather than Samsung’s virtual assistant, but if you use a recent Galaxy phone, we have good news. Samsung’s virtual assistant can be completely disabled. You can do it this way.
Since Samsung Galaxy devices from Note 10 and newer do not have dedicated Bixby buttons, these steps apply to them. It is not possible to fully deactivate Bixby on the Galaxy S8, S9, S10, Note8, and Note9.
Using the side button on your phone, disable Bixby
When you hold down the Side key on a newer Samsung phone, Bixby will open by default. You can change that by following these steps.
Start by opening the Power menu.
On your home screen, swipe down once to show notifications, then swipe down again to expand quick settings. In the upper right corner, you’ll see the power icon.
Click on the Side key settings button.
At the bottom, press and hold, then choose Power off.
Your phone’s side button can be used to disable Bixby
Disabling “Hi Bixby” detection
Bixby can listen to your call if you say “Hi Bixby.” It’s a pretty unique phrase, so you’re unlikely to say it by accident; but if you want to turn it off, follow these steps.
The first step is to open the Bixby app
Go to the side menu by clicking on it
Choose Settings from the menu
Toggle the sound alert setting to off
Disabling “Hi Bixby” detection
If you’re not using any other Samsung features, you can simply sign out under Manage accounts in your phone’s settings, and you’ll be rid of Bixby already without having to sign in. If any additional steps need to be taken.
Thus, your Samsung Galaxy phone experience will be free of Bixby. Instead of comparing Google’s personal assistant with Siri, you can rely on it
