The company decided to be the pioneer in this modern technology of processors by producing 3nm processors in smartphones for the first time.

In June of last year, Samsung announced that it had gained access to 3-nanometer industry architecture for smartphone processors for the first time, and confirmed that the technology would be tested on a large scale for the year 2022 before being introduced to the industry.

Processors with 3 nanometers of technology

As a result of a report from South Korea, Samsung has decided to begin mass production of modern technology, starting with processors. This indicates that Samsung has already completed testing processes and the results have been positive, indicating progress in the field.

Samsung did not announce the results of the test or how it compared to expectations, but according to the report, the new chips with a 3 nm architecture will have a 35% smaller footprint compared to a 5 nm architecture, resulting in a 30% improvement in performance and a 50% reduction in power consumption.

The Samsung Galaxy is the best in the world

According to the report, Samsung will start producing processors with the new architecture on a large scale, at full capacity, as the company expects large sales after its technological revolution in processors, and production will increase in 2018.

Despite having been specified for only $10 billion, Samsung plans to invest $17 billion in the Pyeongtaek factory, which will be located in the United States.

In fact, the factory was opened last month, and the company presented a presentation on 3 nm technology in processors, and confirmed that full factory production would begin in 2024.

It is worth noting that Samsung has succeeded in outperforming its closest competitors in producing processor chips with a 3-nanometer architecture, as the Taiwanese TSMC, a leader in the processor and semiconductor industry, announced recently. Although the technology for manufacturing processors with a 3-nanometer architecture was completed a few days ago, actual production will not begin until in. At the moment, its technologies will undergo initial testing before being approved and launched.
